The Pegasus 40 updates the upper and midfoot compared with the Pegasus 39. Both models in this men’s edit use Nike React foam with Air Zoom cushioning. Compare the upper design, exact fit guidance and price in your size before choosing.
What stayed familiar, and what changed
Nike identifies a re-engineered upper and redesigned midfoot as the Pegasus 40 updates. The brand also lists the same MR-10 last as the Pegasus 39. A shared last is useful context, but it cannot guarantee that two uppers will feel identical on your feet.
The Pegasus 39 example DH4071-400 uses engineered mesh, React foam and Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot. Flywire works with a midfoot band. The Pegasus 40 continues the React-and-Air-Zoom combination with its revised upper.
Make the comparison in your size
If you already know the fit of a Pegasus 39, compare the 40’s upper details before changing generations. If both are new to you, begin with the product size guidance and the size options currently available.
These are road-running models. Pegasus Trail and Shield versions have separate purposes and details; the shared Pegasus name does not make them interchangeable. The products below are explicitly selected for this road-model comparison.
