Shopping questions

Which football shoes do I need: indoor, turf or multi-ground?

Start with the surface and the venue’s footwear rules. Indoor shoes are intended for suitable flat courts, TF models for turf, and MG models for the natural or synthetic surfaces specified by the manufacturer. The sole label matters more than whether a pitch is inside a building.

Understand the labels on the product

Indoor or IN/IC: look for a shoe explicitly described for flat indoor surfaces. The adidas X Speedportal Messi.3 Indoor GW8392 in this edit has a non-marking rubber outsole.

TF: this denotes turf footwear. The Copa Sense.4 TF and Phantom GT2 Club TF are grouped separately from flat indoor shoes. Check the type of artificial surface and the venue’s rules.

MG: this denotes multi-ground. The Nike Phantom GT2 Club MG and Vapor 15 Academy MG below are multi-ground models, even where the merchant title includes “FG/MG”. Read the full product description rather than treating every studded outsole as the same.

Confirm the pitch before you buy

“Five-a-side”, “3G” and “indoors” do not describe every detail needed to choose an outsole. Ask the venue what it permits on that specific pitch, then compare the manufacturer’s intended-use information. Firm-ground, soft-ground, artificial-ground and turf labels are not interchangeable.

Check the exact model and full size options once the surface is settled. A football design worn by a favourite player may be sold with several different soles; the outsole version is the part to confirm.

Compare current options

Choose a product to check the available sizes, current price and full details. Stock is specific to each size.

Each displayed shoe has at least four distinct UK sizes that currently pass the stock and availability checks. Size labels and prices belong to the exact variants shown; availability can change.

Questions before you choose

Can I use indoor shoes on an indoor artificial-grass pitch?
The building does not determine the sole choice. Check the actual surface and venue rules; a flat-court indoor shoe is a different category from turf footwear.
Are TF and MG the same?
No. They identify different outsole categories. Use the exact manufacturer’s intended-use guidance and the pitch operator’s requirements.
Does FG/MG in a title mean all surfaces are covered?
No. Read the product details for that style code and confirm the venue permits it. Multi-ground wording is not a promise of suitability for every surface.
